A Dementia Friendly Society

In the health political context it is expected that a growing group of elderly will increase the number of people with chronic illnesses. This growing group is a challenge, because it will make demands from a big part of the resources offered by the social agencies and the health service.

The division of responsibility between the primary and secondary health service should be arranged better, ant the treatment offers for people with dementia should be coordinated, so that people with dementia and their relatives always know where and who to turn to. In connection with this, a unified plan concerning dementia is made.

A group of specialists from the psychiatric ward, the National Hospital of the Faroe Islands, Nærverki, the Alzheimer Association, the Association of the General Practitioners, the dementia coordinatiors and the consultant service has made the plan.
