MASD-examinations

Preventive health examinations also called MASD (Movement, Alcohol, Smoking and Diet) are pursued (Called MARK in Faroese). This is a comprehensive public health examination of the Faroese people, and the results were announced in 2009. The Council for Public Health arranged for these examinations.

The MASD-examinations are about movement, alcohol, smoking and diet. The examination entails answering a questionnaire on movement, alcohol, smoking and diet, and it is also a body examination. The body examination includes measuring blood pressure, height, weight, waist- and hip measurements. Various muscle strength tests are made and a fitness test. In addition to this, blood tests are drawn from the ear lope and blood sugar and cholesterol is measured.
