Vaccination

People with permanent residency in the Faroe Islands are offered free vaccinations for specific illnesses. In this case, it is first and foremost children and young adults under the age of 18.

Normal vaccinations
The illnesses that people are vaccinated against includes whooping cough, diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, German measles, mumps and pneumococcal. Children under the age of
six are also vaccinated against.

In 2008 and onwards all people older than 66 years old are offered a free vaccination against influenza.

Cervical cancer vaccination
Girls born on January 1st 1995 or later are offered a cervical cancer vaccination, when they are 12 years old. This vaccination has to be done before the girls 15th birthday. You can see more in the brochure on you right.

These vaccinations take place at you general practitioner.
