Cervical cancer vaccination

All girls and women from the age of 12 to 28 are offered a free of charge cervical cancer vaccination.

The condition is that the girl is 12 years old when the vaccination starts. The vaccinations should be completed prior to the woman’s 28th birthday.

The vaccination takes place at your general practitioner. For the vaccination to be effective, the woman should be vaccinated three times in 12 months. Normally it takes 6 months, and the process is usually like this:

  1. 1st visit at you general practitioner
  2. 2nd visit at you general practitioner usually takes place 2 months after the 1st visit
  3. 3rd visit at your general practitioner usually takes place 4 months after the 2nd visit

The purpose with the cervical cancer vaccination is to prevent cervical cancer. The professional health opinion states that, if women say yes to the offer on the cervical cancer vaccination, it will lead to a prevention of the dangerous illness.
